ಕಾಗೆ  ನಾನು ಶಾ ಲೆ ಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲರಗಿಂತ ಮುಂಚೆ ಎಂಟು ವರೆಗೆ ತಲುಪಿದೆ. ಯಾರು ಬಂದಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಬರುವುದು ಇಲ್ಲ. ಕಾರಣ ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ ರಜೆ, ಇನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ಆಫೀಸ್ ನ ಸಹೋದ್ಯೋಗಿಗಳು ಬರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕನಿಷ್ಠ ಇನ್ನೊಂದುಗಂಟೆಯಾದರೂ ಬೇಕು. ಮೇಷ್ಟ್ರುಗಳು ಹಾಗು ಹುಡುಗರು ಬರುವ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಹಿಂದಿನ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಮಳೆಜೋರಾಗಿ ಬಂದುದರಿಂದ ಚಾವಣಿಯಿಂದ ಇನ್ನು ನೀರು ಹನಿ ಹನಿ ಯಾಗಿ ತೊಟ್ಟಿಕ್ಕುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಪಕ್ಕದ ಹಾಲ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಮರಿಯಪ್ಪನವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಕಾಲೇಜ್ ಹುಡುಗರಿಗೆ ಕಾಮರ್ಸ್ ಟ್ಯುಶನ್ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ರೈನ್ ಕೊಟ್ ಬಿಚ್ಚಿ ಕುರ್ಚಿಗೆ ನೇತುಹಾಕಿ ಕುಳಿತು, ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರತಿನಿತ್ಯದ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸದಂತೆ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಕಳಿಸುವ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರಿಗೆಲ್ಲಾಮೆಸೇಜ್ ಕಳಿಸಿ, ಬೇರೇನೂ ಕೆಲಸ ತೋಚದೆ, ಟ್ಯೂಬ್ ಲೈಟ್ ಆನ್ ಮಾಡಿ, ಹತ್ತನೆಯ ತರಗತಿಯ ಜೀವವಿಜ್ಞಾನದ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ತಿರುವಿಹಾಕಲು ಶುರು ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ಯಾವುದು ಹೊಸ ವಿಷಯ ಇಲ್ಲ, ಕ್ಲಾಸ್ ಗೆ ತಯಾರಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಷ್ಟು ಅಗತ್ಯವೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಏನುತೋಚದೆ ಸ್ಟಾಫ್ ರೆಜಿಸ್ಟರ್ ತೆಗೆದು ಸಹಿ ಹಾಕಿದೆ. ಹೊರಗಡೆ ಮೋಡ ಕವಿದ ವಾತಾವರಣ. ಇವೊತ್ತು ಸಹಾ ಮಳೆ ಬರಬಹುದುಎನಿಸಿತು. ಮೂರನೇ ಮಹಡಿಯಿಂದ ಮಬ್ಬಾದ ಎದುರಿಗಿನ ಆಕಾಶ ನೋಡುವುದು ಒಂದು ಅನುಭವ. ಇದ್ದಕ್ಕಿದ್ದ ಹಾಗೆ ತೆರೆದ ಬಾಗಿಲಿನಿಂದ ಕಾಗೆ ಹಾರಿ ಬಂದು ನನ್ನ ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲಿದ್ದ ಕಿಟಕಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಕುಳಿತು ಒಂದು ಪಕ್ಕದಿಂದ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಪಕ್ಕಕ್ಕೆ ಹದರಿ ಹೊರ

  ನೆನಪು. ತಾಯಿಯ ಮಮತೆಯ ಅಂಟಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದು ಗರ್ಭದ ಗೋಡೆಗಾದರೂ ಹೊಕ್ಕಳು ಹುರಿ ಹರಿದು ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ್ದು ಊದುಕು ಲುಮೆಯ ತೊಟ್ಟಿಲಲ್ಲಿ. ಬಿಸಿಲ ಝಳದಲೇ ಜಾರಿದ ಬಾಲ್ಯ ಕಾಡುಬಂಡೆಗಳಮೇಲೆ ಚಿಗುರಿದ ಯವ್ವನ, ಜೂಟಾಟ, ಕಣ್ಣುಮುಚ್ಚಾಲೆ ಕೊರಕಲು ಪ್ರಪಾತಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ತಳರಹಿತ ಗವಿಯ ಸಂದು, ಗೊಂದುಗಳ ನೆರಳಲ್ಲೂ ತೀವ್ರ ತಾಪವೇ ಹವಾ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಿತ ಆವಾಸ. ಬಂಡೆಗಳನ್ನೇ ಯಾಮಾರಿಸಿ ಕೊರಕಲಲ್ಲೇ ಆವಾಸ ಕಂಡ ನೇರಲೆ,ಕಾರೆ,ಕವಳೆ,ಲೇಬೆ, ಬೋರೆ ಗಂಜಿಗೆ. ಕೊರಕಲುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತಲೆ ಎತ್ತಿರುವ ಗುಲಗಂಜಿ. ಉಪಹಾರ ಯಾವುದಾದರೇನು ಹಸಿವುಮಾತ್ರ ಪಂಚತಾರ ಹೋಟೆಲ್ ಗಳಂತೆ.ಆಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ವಸಹಾಯ ಪಧ್ದತಿ ಕಡ್ಡಾಯ.  ಬಹಿರ್ದೆಸೆಯ ಚಾರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿತಾಫಲ ಅನ್ ಲಿಮಿಟೆಡ್ ನುರಿತ ಪರ್ವತಾರೋಹಿಗೆ. ನಿರ್ಜನ ಕಣಿವೆಯಲಿ ಸ್ವಗತ, ಶಾಶ್ವತ. ಸಂಭಾಷಣೆ ಕೂಗೋಗುಡ್ಡದ ಪ್ರತಿಧ್ವನಿಯಲಿ ಕಂಪಿಸಿ, ರಾಕ್ಷಸ ಇಳಿಜಾರು ಬಂಡೆ ಬೈಗಳ ಪ್ರತಿಧ್ವನಿಯ ರೋಮಾಂಚನ ಶ್ರವಣ. ನೇಯ್ಗೆ ಮಗ್ಗಗಳ ನಿಲ್ಲದ ನಡಿಗೆಯ ರೇಶಿಮೆಯ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ. ಶಿಸ್ತಿನ ಸಾರೋಟು ಚಲನೆಯಲಿ ಲಾಳಗಳ ಓಟ, ನಿರಂತರ ಧ್ವನಿಸುವ ಬದುಕಿನ ಚಟಾ ಪಟಾ. ಊರಿಗೊಂದು ಭಾಷೆ ಅದರ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯದ ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವ. ಕರಡಿ ಗಂಗಣ್ಣನ ಘಮ,ಘಮ ಮಂಡಾಳ್ ಒಗ್ಗರಣಿ ಆದ್ಯಾತ್ಮ ತತ್ವ. ಅತ್ತಿಕಾಯಿ, ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಮೆಣ್ಸಿನ್ಕಾಯ್ ಉಳ್ಳಾಗಡ್ಡಿ, ಮಂಡಕ್ಕಿ ಭರ್ಜರಿ ಭೋಜನ.  ಈಜಾಟ ಮನೋರಂಜನೆ ಆಟ, ನೀರಿದ್ದ ಆ ದೊಡ್ಡಬಾವಿ, ಬಾನಿ ಎಳೆಯುವ ಹಗ್ಗದ ಮೇಲೆ ಜೋಕಾಲಿ, ಹಿಂಬದಿಯ ನಡಿಗೆಯಲಿ ದಿಣ್ಣೆ ಏರಿ,

Reunited...at last..

Dreamy youth....three decade past... Recently, a few days ago Rashmi my cousin had come home. She had a carry bag full of newly bought kannada books. Out of curiosity I just went through the books quite literally assorted books which also contained anthologies of Jayant kaikini published by ankita publications. without my knowledge my hands picked the books of Jayanth and like a reflex action my eyes started focusing on the poems. Rashmi personally told me that I would have the books with me till I complete the reading of the poems as she knew that I had an intimate and a sentimental attachment with jayant. But I wondered at the sensitivity of Rashmi as indeed I had tried to suppress my curiosity and urgency of going through the whole book that night itself.
